SOUL JOURNEY
A monthly feature by Mary Ellen Merrigan

This soul

Is old

Working on wise

Learning daily

Taking the lessons and reviewing

Sorting

Moving

Removing

Kicking fears to the curb.

Ah so.

The curb

The bump in the road

The place that catches all the dirt and dust

The on again, off again marker of boundaries

The curb

When you kick your fears to the curb

You throw them aside

Shed them

Release them

Beat them

Walk past or through them

That’s where the fun is.

In the kicking of the fear

The Chinese refer to

False Expectations Appearing Real

Fear

Easier said than done

What is it that you fear

Where is it that you want to go

What would you do if there were no holds barred

Or no strings attached

Who would you be

How much would you earn

When would you start

Is there a base fear

One that is shared

Probably

The largest

That most face is

I’m not good enough

This goes to the root of everything

I’m not good enough

Sets the stage

For all the failures

It okays all of the never tries

And excuses lots

I’m not good enough is an opt out

A cop out, sometimes

Mostly a statement of low self-esteem

There’s no shame

Only a lack of knowing

Usually

Kick the fear to the curb

It’s amazing what will happen

How can this be done

Resolutely

Completely

With urgency

Don’t practice

As Yoda says

There is no try

Do it!

And so it is

Today
